Time for another excerpt from, TORN.
Seems Aiden’s and Jen’s idea of their relationship are very different…
The way her body sinks against mine and her small soft moan as I deepen our kiss..? I know exactly what Nick means. That’s something that will never get old. That’s something I want to know every day.
“Food’s getting cold,” she mumbles against my mouth.
As much as I don’t want to, I release her lips from mine.
She gazes up at me for a moment before slowly pulling away.
I get the plates and cutlery as Jen takes the containers from the bag, ‘mmming’ as she takes the lid from the top of hers.
“You know I think I could eat this every day it’s so delish.”
“Some things you never get tired of eh?”
Jen keeps her gaze firmly on the noodles as she spoons them onto her plate. “Some things.”
She picks up her food and fork. “Shall we eat in the lounge?”
Taking our plates into the living room we settle down on the sofa and Jen switches on the TV, clicking rapidly down the menu until she finds what she’s looking for.
Jesus, as if girlie movies weren’t bad enough, now I have to sit through some reality crap? Oh who are you kidding? My inner voice mocks. You’d suffer any rubbish on TV if you get to watch it with her. You’re such a pushover. He wanders off shaking his head, muttering something about growing a pair.
Thankfully the programme doesn’t last much longer than our food and we sit back, Jen curled into my side.
I kiss the top of her head. “This is nice.”
She pulls away. “Don’t get too comfy. I have to get up early tomorrow.”
“Okay, just let me nip down to the car for my stuff.”
Jen gets up off the sofa and looks down at me. “Yeah, I think we need to have a talk about you staying over.”
“You have a problem with that?”
“Well, yeah… Thing is I don’t really do sleepovers.”
“So what are you telling me? What do you do?”
“You come over, we have a good time then you leave. That’s how it works. No toiletries in my bathroom. No space in my wardrobe. No drawer. Just fun.”
Okay, she may have her rules, but I’ve had enough of skirting around the edges of what I feel. It’s about time I set some of my own. I get up and return her stare. “No.”
“No? What do you mean no?”
“That’s not how it works. Not for me.”
“Well then we do have a problem.”
“No we don’t… I’m in your life now. And when I’m in your life, I’m in your life. We’re not going to be just fuck buddies.”
“Is that right? So what are we going to be?”
I wrap my arms around her and kiss her. “Everything… You’re going to be mine and I’ll be yours.”
